To change the subject a little and lighten the mood......

Great little note in Phil Mushnick's "Equal Time" column in today's NY POST:

"Where does ESPN find these guys? With :44 left against Indiana on ESPN Classic, Northwestern took the lead, 31-28. Analyst Jay Taylor then provided this overview of Northwestern kickoff team strategy: "We cannot allow a touchdown, at this point in time, or al long run.". Who knew?"

I remember thinking at the time he said it what an inane comment.

	Season

Good stat, but unfortunately the coaches don't have much to do with the
attendance numbers outside of the final record. And this year's 'Cats have
a better record than 8 of the years listed there, so one may say that the
coaches have been pulling their weight (at least relative to previous years'
results).

This has been a problem that's been discussed for years - but now it must
finally be coming to a head. NU has won at least 50% of its games this year
yet has the lowest attendance in a long, long time. Something has to be
done, and it has to start at the top of the athletics department (Murphy) or
the university (Bienen).

We know the athletic dept. isn't running much of a deficit, but that's
mostly thanks to the Big Ten TV/bowl revenue, of which there is a lot. In
any case a program can't flourish if the supporters aren't in the seats.
