[NU Sports] I see an 8th Bowl spot slipping away...

I hate more than anything to be negative, especially this late in the
season. But it seems we are burdened constantly with coaches that can't coach,
can't recruit, can't coordinate. This probably has alot to do with terrible
attendance at Dyche Stadium - it is not real enjoyable to watch as late 10-point
leads evaporate in a flash, or as silly mistakes lead to penalties that are
unwarrented in game #11, or as a team gets into the red zone, and can't
fathom how to punch it in to the endzone (this was also a BIG problem in the Duke
game). Fans of other football programs don't seem to have to deal with all
this coaching incompetence, and we should expect and demand better.

We as a University would never build our Chemistry faculty, or the Cardiac
Surgery staff at Northwestern Memorial in the same way we put together our
coaching staffs, but we should - look for the best people out there (outstanding
skills and integrity), and bring them in. RW's passing was tragic, but if
the head of the Philosophy Department passed, we would not tolerate two years
of departmental malaise.

PS - Could we hope that anybody on Central St. maybe has given Mike Dunbar a
call ? He was great as our OC, then he made 2 bad decisions - going to Cal
(allegedly to be closer to his family), then separating from Cal - to come to
hopeless/hapless Minnesota ? I know he wants to be a head coach, but
staying on the Gopher's sinking ship probably isn't going to help that hope. Come
back here, where you have had success.
