... I was flipping through the channels and came
across the Irish scoring to take the lead at the half
on Navy. On the bottom of the screen, NBC's graphics
department proudly displayed:
21 points: Most points scored this season by ND
All I can say for the second half: GO NAVY!!!
As for the Big Ten bowl picture right now, it's
becoming a bit more clear ...
Obviously our only hope at the two BCS slots is for
Michigan to win out and for OSU to get an at-large
bid.
If that doesn't happen, Iowa probably is the odd team
out unless the Hoosiers collapse the next two weeks.
Northwestern and Michigan State don't look to have a
good chance now unless they have fantastic finishes to
their seasons.
Gonna be real interesting to see what happens after
the first two bids go to the Buckeyes and Wolverines.
At the end of today, Wisky, PSU, Purdue and Illinois
should all be 7-3. The Boilers and Nits should each
win their final two and the Badgers and Illini
probably split their remaining games. I think Purdue
probably drops to the lowest spot (little respect as
they didn't play UW or Illinois and lost to PSU ...
plus fewest fans) and the Illini probably fare well
(2-0 vs. PSU and UW and the newness factor) - though
PSU and UW have the fans and name recognition.
Repetition could be the deciding factor as UW was in
the Citrus last year and PSU in Tampa. So either way
it shakes out, the Illini are probably in Florida on
New Year's Day unless they finish with two losses.
Then you have the final spots. Indiana and Iowa
probably finish 7-5 each unless we rise up and beat
IU. The Hoosiers beat the Hawks and are the better
story, so Iowa's really hoping the Wolverines get in
the BCS or that NU beats IU so the folks in Detroit
have to take a 7-5 Iowa team over 6-6 Indiana. MSU and
NU are longshots at this point.
GO CATS!!!
