Raising Northwestern football ticket prices is certainly not the way to
fill
the stadium. You can't compare the market in Evanston to Ann Arbor,
South Bend, Lincoln NE, etc.
There must be a way to provide lower-price tickets or family packages
and assure that most of the tickets are not resold to fans of the visiting
team.
Rock bands have fan clubs where loyal fans get first crack at concert
tickets
before ticket brokers can buy them up -- it would seem that Northwestern
could do something similar. (Have special color-coded tickets which
require you to enter at a particular gate and show ID?)
It is always depressing to see so many empty seats and foreign school
colors at Dyche Stadium (or whatever they're calling it now).
Northwestern should be building a fan base among non-alumni
in Evanston and the other northern suburbs, and that should start with
some bargain deals for local families.
