For all the "bad" karma this idea presents, I can't help but think of one
fact that helps define the "good" in Bob Knight's split persona: He
graduates
his players; they get an education--or they leave the team--and I can't
recall any recruiting scandals ever touching him. Those are core NU values
that
he would uphold. Is that enough for NU to try to get him--even if he were
to
be open to the idea--probably not, given his other, well-noted flaws. But
it
sure is intriguing....

Yes Knight has the many of the best and the worst in him about NCAA
athletics-
-I once had the opportunity to talk with Glen Grunwald , a reserve on the
'81 championship team, and he told me every time Indiana came into Chicago,
(presumably --only to play NU or perhaps Depaul) he would call him to see how he
was doing--We know all of his bad points as well, and they are bad.
Would a big name coach be the answer ? I wonder if many 17 year old kids
outside of the BayArea would even know who Mike Montgomery is ? not that I
have any knowledge that he is looking, but we sure need something to help
kickstart the program
