79 seems a bit low ... maybe because it didn't have
the happy ending in Pasadena?
Still, hard to see some others ahead of the Purple to
Pasadena. Maybe they should have taken the 17-15 game
at ND as the moment. That really was a turning point
game - not just for NU and the rest of the "little
guys" ... but for ND's invincibility under Lou Holtz.
Just a couple years before, they were essentially
national champions and now they were beaten soundly at
home by a 28-point underdog no-name.
And no 2000 Michigan game? Yeah, there were other
high-scoring shootouts, but that one really seems to
be remembered by most nationwide as the arrival of the
spread craze and points-happy football.
But always fun to look at these lists and relive
college football memories. Tough to pick between those
top two! And, of course, it means that football season
is getting close!!!:)
GO CATS!!!
