Actually, according to the Big Ten Network site
(http://www.bigtennetwork.com), more than 350 hours of
programming, plus the live nightly studio show, will
be in HD.
They also mentioned Internet streaming of games on the
site, Roy.
And they said that coaches shows will be shown on the
network, so I hope NU can get in the game with Fitz
and Carmody on the air somehow (maybe have one of the
journalism outlets on campus produce it if there are
no takers in Chicagoland?).
I dunno why more people on the list aren't
enthusiastic about this - it's going to be in the
basic programming package on DirecTV, so it seems to
me the other cable companies are the ones deserving of
the ire for dragging their feet. Overall, it will get
more NU football and basketball games on the air and
more chances to see other sports (like our softball or
LAX teams) for Cats fans who can't always make it to
Evanston. Plus, I'm curious to see what NU does for
the hours of school programming each campus is
responsible for - hope we showcase some of our
non-sports students and talents as well.
I think this is win-win all around for Cats fans. Like
I said, I think the sabre rattling between Comcast,
Congress and everyone else will be resolved by August.
And if not, by September after half of their midwest
customers buy dishes.:)
