Boo Comcast!:) And a poor decision by the network as
well - the Big Ten is truly a national conference -
the bowls know it, the TV networks know it and the
merchandisers know it.
I saw their schedule for the first three weeks, so now
my question is how DirecTV is going to split the
"regional" games. If they show 'em all and I can get
NU on an alternate channel, fine with me. But if they
designate Arizona to only get the "main" game, then I
guess I better hope that reruns of all the day's games
are shown later at night.
But this is out west - I can't imagine a Big Ten game
not being shown in Big Ten country. They'll find a way
- surely a local station will step up or something.
They may be able to ignore fans wanting to see
Indiana-NU or so, but Penn State will find a way to be
on TV somewhere.

I dunno about the profit part ... seems like an
exaggeration. But it's just another reason to call
bulls*** on the college football powers that be. They
said the 12th game was OK and that it would foster
more competitive inter-conference games and give the
"mid majors" chances at the BCS teams and BCS bowls.
Well, yes it works once and awhile (Boise State last
year, the great OSU-Texas series the last two years)
... but mostly it just gave the big boys a chance to
add another home game against another cupcake. And
schools like PSU have gotten to be dependent on that
extra 100,000+ at the gate and won't go back for a
series with Pitt over a more profitable one with
Temple.
And that 12th game (and 13th or 14th in some cases) is
OK, but a playoff would take away too much time from
class.
Yeah right.:)
But despite the idiocy up top, the games on the field
sure are fun to watch - hope Big Ten fans everywhere
can do so on the new network.
GO CATS!!!
