Fascinating tidbits! Can't wait for the season to
start. A few comments ...

> Indiana is 1-25 in the last 26 games in the week
> before they play Purdue (that's NU this year --
> good!)

:) - certainly hope that continues!

> Michigan is 24-1 in last 25 BT openers (this year:
> Penn State)

Given Lloyd Carr's mastery over JoePa, I think this
streak continues ... perhaps the Nits' only Big Ten
loss this year.

> Ferentz is 5-0 in last five vs. JoePa.

In a nutshell, that's why PSU has fallen from the
elite status - sheesh. Michigan is understandable for
a power to lose to consistently ... Iowa is not.

> Joe Tiller vs. NU, Indiana, MSU and Minny: 31-5

And there is Tiller's success in a nutshell - he beats
the teams he needs to beat. I expect those numbers
hold for Illinois as well.

> About another six weeks ... kickoff!!!!

Thank goodness! Aside from the Illinihype, I think the
league could surprise in a pleasant sense this year -
Iowa has a gift-wrapped schedule, young OSU's big
games don't come until late, Purdue and PSU are
underrated, Michigan and Wisky could make it another
blockbuster game of unbeatens in November for the
league ... and I'm confident in the Cats being bowl
bound! Gotta win the gottawins, but we could open some
eyes this year with an upset or two.

The two big ???s in the league for me are Minny and
MSU - new coaches, new QBs, new systems ... but not
exactly bare cupboards of talent either and a change
might be what the doctor ordered after disappointing
pasts. We'll see how they do this year.

GO CATS!!!
