[NU Sports] McGee Fire or Not

Dennis,

I agree that what you described is most likely what happened and that's what
I said in the part of my post that you chose not to quote.

But you've been living under a rock if you think racial profiling isn't
alive and well on the streets of many cities north and south.

Here's a link to one the happened recently just south of us in Toledo, OH
that hot bed of racial tension. Ottawa Hills is a very wealthy suburb of
Toledo with a reputation of racial intolerance. You see from the article
that the cop made a routine traffic stop. He issued a ticket and then with
no pretense other than color, forced the driver to go through a field
sobriety test. It went downhill from there and is going to end up costing
the city $9M. It cost the police officer his job and may not end there, but
clearly Ottawa Hills is not a good place to be DWB (driving while black).

Want to talk some more about the "race card"?

I was wondering how long it would take for the race card to get slapped onto
the table. The man was going twenty miles per hour over the speed limit, so
it is hardly surprising that the cop pulls him over. McGee rolls down the
window and before those immortal words "May I see your license and
registration please?" are uttered the cop's olfactory nerves sense the
unmistakable odor of liquor breath. "Out of the car, sir. Breathe into
this." Seems pretty simple to me. There but for the grace of God go you
and I.
