I should have backed-up my first 2 points a little better...
The 1999 Harvard Scool of Public Health study tagged binge drinking as the #1 problem on college campuses - fully 44% of students were engaging in binge drinking.
The 2005 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's fatality analysis reporting system data showed an increase in alcohol-related deaths, from 16,694 in 2004 to 16,972 in 2005.
A school like Northwestern has to take a leadership position in addressing issues like this.

1. "I. . . cannot fathom what John is trying to say with his comment."
Then I doubt you'll appreciate any further explanation of his sarcasm.
2. "[Is it] somehow a slap at liberalism or perhaps radical left movements of the 60's and 70's?"
Let's hope so.
3. "Why, because some people want to decriminalize marijuana?"
Excellent reason.
4. "And what does that have to do with a DUI in 2007?"
Hypocrisy maybe?
Consider your feathers ruffled.
