[NU Sports] McGee Fire or Not?

Getting drunk is a personal choice and legal as long as you are old enough.
Driving while under the influence of any substance that impairs your ability
to operate a car is crime which demonstrates very poor judgment on his part
and those that allowed him to get into his car. This guy put himself, his
family, and the other innocent drivers on the road at the time at great
risk. A car in the hands of an impaired driver is a lethal weapon. He was
just lucky that nothing more serious than a DUI conviction occurred.
It's that poor judgment as well as the very bad example that it sets for the
athletes for whom he is supposed to be a role model that calls for some
action on the part of his superiors.
I suspect that Northwestern already has a policy in place. McGee probably
had to agree to it in order to work for Northwestern, and he will deal with
whatever consequences are stated in the policy. I support whatever that
policy recommends, but I doubt it includes termination for the first
offense.
I suspect that he has already received an earful from those who care about
him (including Fitz). Whatever Fitz chooses to do beyond what the NU policy
recommends, I also support.
The consequences should be scary because the risk he took was scary.
Jeff

In a time where we have faculty and alumni actively campaigning for the
legalization of Marijuana, and other drugs, and who have probably operated a
motor vehicle under the influence of said drugs, I cannot imagine firing
anyone over this alleged event.
If we applied the alcohol free logic to the football staff, we would have no
assistant coaches, and very little alumni attendance at the NGN Auction.
I'm sure McGee won't be driving after a night of partying again any time
soon, but to remove a coach who was on vacation, consuming a legal substance
seems pretty unfair. At least to me...
Unless you're just looking for a reason to get rid of him....
