[NU Sports] New Year's Day bowls ...

Gonna be real interesting to see the attendance
figures from today. The upper decks in Orlando and
Jacksonville seem half empty at least and there's a
lot of empty end zone seats in Dallas. It seems like
the Outback Bowl is the only one close to a sellout.
As for the BCS, I know we'll be fine here in Phoenix
with virtually the entire state of Idaho in town, but
with neither SC nor Michigan all that happy about the
Rose Bowl, I wonder if there will be seats open in
Pasadena.

Some of the earlier bowls I know had big attendance
figures (notably the Music City and Peach) with new
schools and such, but still kind of sad to see a lot
of these bowls in hallow stadiums. Is this a B(C)S
factor or are the prices just too high? I'm not sure.

As for the games, Wisky and PSU are playing well and
hanging tough, but the Big Ten needs to start getting
some wins. Iowa's gutsy play got some respectability
back after Minny's choke, but our big boys gotta come
to play today.
