Folks, we may not know it, but Carmody is a high profile coach.
Read what the other Big 10 coaches say about him - they're not blowing smoke
because they know the Carrill offense works when you have the right mix of
players, a mix that NU is very close to having even this year.
I can't find anything about it on NU Sports, but NU is planning a multi-million
dollar upgrade of facilities, including new coaches offices overlooking the
basketball practice court - essentially where the batting cages are now.
The next step is new locker rooms - enough for 4 teams so we can host the
holiday tournaments.
I'm not sure what the status of that fund raising is, but the people I've talked
to seem to think it will happen sooner, not later.
Bill Carmody has had one of the best runs of any past NU Coach. Many don't agree
with his offensive philosophy, but NU could never attracted 8 or 9 guys who
could play O'Neil's or Winter's or anyone else's offense well. The Princeton
style offense attracts smart kids who can shoot - we're finally getting those
kinds of players, as our rep in the city continues to grow.
Maybe we were kinda spoiled by Vedran's ability to control a game. Its too bad
Doyle wasn't here from the beginning of his college basketball career, he would
have been a major player with the guys back then.
Anyway, too much of this talk is similar to the same line folks used against
Walker after the Wheeler death. Had we followed what fans were saying on the
internet, we would have had another rebuild and probably not had Fitz as the
head guy.
I guess I believe in building on what you've got, not chasing after
possibilities.
