Although I don't agree with the premise upon which this subject arose on the list, I'll answer some of Mike's questions since there seems to be interest in the subject now that it has arisen.
First, the irony that Mike raises is very real given the way Dohrn likely obtained the job (via her wealthy father-in-law, chairman of the board of trustees).
In any event, Dohrn is the director of the Children & Family Justice Center in the Northwestern legal clinic. Ironically, she isn't admitted to practice law although she holds a JD from the University of Chicago. What I've heard is that she didn't pass the character and fitness review for becoming admitted to the bar. Typically, professors in the legal clinic are admitted to practice law because that's typically what clinical profressors do.
I was going to say that she doesn't teach any courses, but apparently she does teach a few seminars etc. But I think her primary job is as director of the Children & Family Justice Center. You'll notice that she isn't listed as teaching any "clinics," compared to the other professors in the clinic, who are. I believe that's because she can't practice law, so she can't supervise a clinic, which entails practicing law and supervising students who are representing clients.
You can read more about it here:
