[NU Sports] More bad basketball

Roy,
Why will NU "always have trouble attracting the undisciplined player who
likes to play above the rim, or be the stand out star."?
Why is this also true? "Our kind of player has always been the kid who
could play, but was ignored by the Dukes and Kansas's of the world."
Perhaps these things apply to Carmody, but why should they apply uniquely
and perpetually to NU?
Jeff

RE: The below....
FWIW - the Princeton system is ideal for an academic institution that can
attract shooters who like the discipline that BC's system imposes. NU will
always have trouble attracting the undisciplined player who likes to play
above the rim, or be the stand out star. Our kind of player has always been
the kid who could play, but was ignored by the Dukes and Kansas's of the
world.
When NU gets into a run and gun battle, we lose big, bigger than last night
and all it does is hurt our pride and confidence. We play our game, the NU
variation of Pete Carrill's offense with a matchup zone defense, and we can
stay with almost any team that relies on an inside game.
Last night we ran into an Illinois team that has been playing without
several key players and who finally got everyone back. The media may be
pinging on Weber, but he's getting the Illini into shape when it finally
counts, the end of the season. Saturday's game with Indiana will be
important for them since it's the first major team they've played since they
got everyone back.
This Saturday's game will be important for the Cats - PSU is a team we
should be able to beat, they're banged up, and haven't been playing all that
well lately, altho they almost scared Wiscy last night.
Once again, we have to play our game on our floor and defend the house.
