[NU Sports] The "Wildcat Factor"

A very interesting question indeed, Coach Roy.
We know that in 2006 Trai Essex did not actually play in the game. On
the other hand, Kevin Bentley of Seattle did play in the game, and the
Seahawks lost.
This year, did Matt Ulrich actually enter the game, was he more in the
Trai Essex mold?
The difference is significant. If Ulrich did not actually play in the
Super Bowl, then the Factor remains valid, basically setting out the
theorem that if a Northwestern alum plays in the game, his team will
lose. Secondarily, if a Northwestern alum is on the team, but not does
play, his team's chances of winning are dramatically increased.
Now if, of course, Ulrich did play in the game, the Wildcat Factor would
then truly have been blown away this year.
I know that everyone out there was waiting to have all of this cleared up.
Jim
P.S. And never forget: if the Braves play the Indians in the World
Series, Northwestern goes to the Rose Bowl.
If the Indians win that WS matchup, NU wins the Rose Bowl.
But if the Braves win the WS, NU loses in Pasadena.
These theories have proven the test of time.
