[NU Sports] Fallout from move to Thanksgiving-weekend

I dunno ... I don't really care if NU hosts the high
school playoffs.

Call me a traditionalist, but the big state university
-- especially one in the center of the state -- seems
like a logical choice for the high school playoffs.
Fine with me.

Plus eight games would just tear up our turf and wind
up being more problem than it's worth (seeing as how
we really don't recruit locally - more
nationally/academically) ... I know that's a big
reason Camp Randall never went to grass - the
Wisconsing HS playoffs would just tear up their field.

All I really care about for this is that it should not
disrupt our game at Illinois. The Illini either need
to tell the IHSAA that college games take precedence
(I suspect several other midwest universities that
host HS playoffs - including Wisconsin - will be in
similar predicaments and college should come first)
... or move it up by us in Chicago. But we must NOT
just let them move it to a Thursday night, or a bye
week earlier in the season or something like that.
They have to make the choice.

The only other solution would be to get a waiver from
the Big Ten to move the game to the following weekend
when the conference title games are - as the Pac 10
and Big East do. It would avoid a Thanksgiving weekend
game for fans and players with a bye that week and not
interfere with the high schools. But I doubt the
league will add another extra week so soon.

GO CATS!!!
