Wasn't Illinois' bid to get the IHSA games part of their attempt to use it for
recruiting?
I'm sure there's a certain logic to holding the games more in the middle of the
state, I'm really surprised they are not in Springfield since I'd bet they only
draw around 4 or 5 thousand fans for each game [I'm sure someone knows the exact
figures].
Around here they hold the state finals at Delaware State [7,000 capacity]
because its in the middle of the state and they don't need anything bigger. I
think the State final drew slightly over 4,000 fans.
I'm sure that the upper level final games would draw more in Evanston - of
course some in Evanston would not want the crowd from Chicago in their city. But
what the heck - lets get the kids into Evanston. Aim High! Expect Victory.
Besides they're already talking about Zook going elsewhere.
