[NU Sports] Michigan's man ...

Only two of his assistant coaches, the OC Magee, and Gibson his secondary
coach and recruiting coordinator, have been mentioned widely in the press.
Rodriguez also said that he planned to keep at least some of the current
assistants. So the only coaches directly displaced if the WVU assistants
keep their current positions would be DeBord and Bedford. A WV newspaper
said that defensive coach Casteel and safeties coach Tell were given offers
to come to Michigan. The paper also speculated that strength coach Barwis
would follow Rodriguez.

If those rumors prove true, you're right that the current defensive coach
English is probably on the way out too. He did interview for Carr's job, so
it isn't clear that he would be willing to take a DC job at NU where it is
clear that PF has the job for life. DeBord got an interview too. He had
been the HC at Central Mich before coming back to Mich, so it isn't clear
that he is going to look for another OC job. His pro-style offense is
somewhat out of favor these days anyway.

After Carr announced his retirement, most everyone on his staff started
looking for jobs (according to the Detroit Papers). Most of these guys have
been through this process several times before and understand how the game is
played (guaranteed contract or not). Don't know if there are others there
that might be interested in stepping into positions of more responsibility at
NU, but in general, the number of HC changes are going to create a good pool
of potential recruits for PF.

>From what I can gather Rodriguez is bringing his own assistants which means
Michigan will have to payoff the two year agreement that Carr negotiated for
them before retiring. Maybe Michigan's defensive coordinator would be a
good pick for Fitzgerald since at this point he doesn't owe Michigan
anything. The offensive coordinator will get picked up by someone. He
expected to be given consideration for Carr's job.
