[NU Sports] Michigan's man ...

I never knew West Virginia was a farm team for the
folks in Ann Arbor.:) The folks in Morgantown have to
wonder who Big Blue will be calling up to coach
next.:)

Pretty good hire for UM - they obviously messed up
their first choice, but they saved some face by
grabbing a big-name coach. I'm not sure the full
cupboard he'll be left with necessarily fits his style
of offense, but in a couple years, Michigan should be
fun to watch and he'll have the chance to do what
Urban Meyer has done - run the spread with top-level
talent.

However, I think it's probably good news for the rest
of the Big Ten as well in that while Rodriguez is a
good coach, he's not invincible. We all kind of feared
in the '90s how if OSU ever got a great coach with all
that talent, they'd be in the national title game
every year ... well, enter Mr. Tressel. While
Rodriguez may have Michigan in the mix many years, he
hasn't shown at WVU that he's the brilliant gameday
coach who will never be caught unprepared (he lost to
Wanny for goodness sake! Wanny!).

So while he's a great system coach and his spread will
present all types of problems once UM gets the
recruits he needs, he won't run roughshot over the
league and will be open to an upset or two.

But overall, good hire. Should be a fun addition to
watch (the 54-51 score may become a norm for the UM-NU
series:) ) and help strengthen the league.

GO CATS!!!
