Just looking at the fact that NU's undergrad population is 7,500-8,000 and
every other Big Ten school is at least 2-3 times larger than that should
tell much of the story - and the fact is that Chicago is the biggest
metropolitan area in the midwest, so it's logical that many Big Ten grads
are attracted to the area. Also given the fact that many from NU spread
across the globe that yields less of an alumni population in the area.
Anyways, despite that fact, I know of many NU alumni in the area who don't
go to games - although I did convince 2 co-worker NU alumni and one of their
family to attend games this year (and thanks to fellow NU fans for helping
me hook them up with tickets). Anyways we can talk this to death, but the
$50 single game price tag was a huge obstacle for all of them to go to
games.
