Brad, Maureen and List Gang,

I agree with what you're saying regarding games over Thanksgiving
weekend, but the fact is when the NCAA signed off on the 12th game, sooner or
later The Big Ten was going to play on Thanksgiving Day weekend. By not doing
so, it puts us at a distinct disadvantage, specifically in how we prepare for
bowls, and by not having a week to rest during the long season.
The 12th game has been particularly unkind to NU, as depth is more of an
issue with our beloved Cats than it is with our Big 10 brethren. It was the
reason for our magnificent 26-14 win over EMU in front of 4,000 people. I
know we won, but I wonder if another week of preparation/rest would have helped
us against Purdue and Iowa?
Last year, the added game was at Nevada. Which raises the question yet
again, why are we playing home-and-home's vs. non BCS teams? Sure, give 'em a
game at their place, but we need two in Evanston.
It gets down to numbers, and by adding the 12th game, it's made The Big
10 play on Thanksgiving weekend. Damn 12th game; now that's no good for
students/players/fans, but good for the bank account. Yuck.

                                                                       GO
CATS!!! Eric
