Exactly. It was U of I that screwed that up. Still can't believe they
made that mistake.

I've only seen the Benedictine game in person, so can't really comment
on whether or how much the team has improved this year, but I don't
know that the start of the season was as bad as some here suggested.

A loss is a loss, of course, but there's no shame in close losses to
Stanford or Depaul. NU was capable of winning both games.

When it's all said and done, the Cats will probably view the Brown game
as a "bad" loss, and the Virginia game as a sound beating by a much
better team.

There's a lot of good, young talent on this team. And based on what I
saw against Benedictine, they are fun to watch--certainly more
entertaining on offense than in the past couple of years.

*If* Coble comes back, I suspect they will be in a lot of games.
Unfortunately, they still won't have any serious size to speak of, and
that's going to make the Big 10 season very difficult.

If you consider any season that doesn't end with an NCAA bid a
disaster, I'd say this season will probably be a disaster.

But if you'd be happy to see some entertaining basketball played by a
team that will be competitive more often than not, then my guess is
that you'll have some fun this year.

And speaking of B-Ball, I saw this on the NU sports site:

"12/11/07
Wildcat Classic Contest To Air Tuesday On the Big Ten Network
Northwestern's dramatic 66-64 win over Indiana from Jan. 11, 1988, will
be re-aired at 5 p.m. CT Tuesday by the Big Ten Network as part of "The
Big Ten's Greatest Games." Shon Morris (pictured) led the Wildcats to
victory with 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists."

I still feel dumb for staying home that night rather than going to the
game--got some grief from friends when they returned to the dorm after
the game.
