[NU Sports] Bowl Networks

I completely agree with the hypocrisy of Comcast - they appear to be
taking the "high ground" by not passing on additional fees to its customers,
yet it raises rates by 5% or more, reduce the number of channels, AND force
customers to pay for Comcast sponsored channels such as Golf Channel and
Versus (niche sports network anyone?).
In any case the optimum situation would be a la carte, but the fact is that
it ain't going to happen unless the government mandates it, and when the
government starts heavily regulating an industry it can't be good.
The best option if you want some real choice is either go with satellite or
wait until AT&T/Verizon roll out their IPTV offerings to your area - with
Illinois recently passing the statewide cable franchise bill I can't imagine
it will be long until AT&T starts rolling it out in the Chicago area -
especially once they've gained some ground in the smaller markets where
they've started rolling out.
Hopefully customers will end up with a real choice sooner rather than later
- both in terms of the operator and in terms of what channels they receive.
Until then, it's back to the battle with big cable.
