[NU Sports] Maybe the Big Ten ...

As a season ticket holder I like the fact the season ends before Thanksgiving. Not only does the weather become unpredictable, but it means we can travel during the Thanksgiving holiday.

This year we spent the holiday in Guatemala and Honduras. Watching Mexican college football(yes the real football) was novel. Their jerseys were sponsored with logos. I also saw multiple soccer highlights and have the words "GOOOOOOOAL!" permanently imprinted in my eardrums.

I like the BCS monetarily and the fact that I have extra bowl games of interest. Without a Big Ten team in the sort-of sugar bowl it would probably not be viewed in our household. If not the BCS, go back to Pac 10-Big 10 Rose Bowl and flip the bird to the rest of the college football world. Who the crap cares about an ugly crystal football anyway?

A northern bowl would be nice, but Indy, Minny, St. Louis, and Detroit are just not appealing destinations for the winter. Why can't Denver, Chicago, New York, or Montreal build a dome? Those are cities I would not mind visitng in the christmas season. That being said wherever the Cats go we will follow. I was really hoping for the Pointsetta Bowl this year.

I'd rather see us go the route of the Pac 10 - have a
true round robin schedule and stretch out the season
with bye weeks so that we're not forgotten and not on
the field the past two weeks.

Of course, I'd still like to see a Pac 10 - Big Ten
Rose Bowl every year until they dispense with this
B(C)S nonsense and give us a true playoff.

And as long as we're making a Christmas wish list, I'd
also like to see us get a bigger bowl in Big Ten land
so some of these SEC and Pac 10 teams have to come
play US in OUR backyard. An outdoor bowl is probably
out of the question, but maybe Indy's new stadium and
reputation as a big event host can lead to a big
"Hoosier Bowl" in the future.:) It really does stink
that our top four teams have to play in stadiums that
are a short bus ride from their opponents' campuses.
