Exactly. They chose to do it, and in the Big XII's
case, it has burned them a few times (though OU still
made the title game with a loss that year).

What really sucks about the conference title games, is
that with an even larger league and no more league
games, a lot of big matchups are missed. For instance,
Georgia was penalized for not playing in their title
game - but they never got a chance to face LSU this
year. And while Kansas got into the BCS with one loss,
they also got out of playing the only team to hand
Mizzou their two losses - Oklahoma.

It'd be fun for the Big Ten to have a title game for
the fans sake, but it may not work out well for the
teams.

I'd rather see us go the route of the Pac 10 - have a
true round robin schedule and stretch out the season
with bye weeks so that we're not forgotten and not on
the field the past two weeks.

Of course, I'd still like to see a Pac 10 - Big Ten
Rose Bowl every year until they dispense with this
B(C)S nonsense and give us a true playoff.

And as long as we're making a Christmas wish list, I'd
also like to see us get a bigger bowl in Big Ten land
so some of these SEC and Pac 10 teams have to come
play US in OUR backyard. An outdoor bowl is probably
out of the question, but maybe Indy's new stadium and
reputation as a big event host can lead to a big
"Hoosier Bowl" in the future.:) It really does stink
that our top four teams have to play in stadiums that
are a short bus ride from their opponents' campuses.
