[NU Sports] I didn't realize that ESPN/ABC was the SEC's television
network ...

... I mean, I know they get SEC night games, but CBS
is the one with the big bucks invested in the SEC.
If I were a Big XII or Pac 10 commish right now, I'd
wonder why my main network is puckering up big-time to
the SEC for a second year in a row.
Last year the ESPN and ABC folk were all buying in to
the Florida hype and did everything but fill out the
voters' ballots for them to have the Gators jump
Michigan despite the Wolverines not losing that final
week of the polls.
Now good ole Musburger and the rest of ABC's game crew
in San Antonio along with the ESPN studio folk are all
on board with LSU jumping from #7 into the top 2 in
the final week of play despite barely beating woeful
Tennessee in a sloppy SEC title game and despite how
only two of the six teams ahead of LSU lost.
I'm sure the Big Ten was ticked with last year's love
fest with Urban Meyer's press conferences and if I'm
the Big XII commish this year, I'm wondering why
they're at MY league's title game where OU is winning
far more impressively than LSU did - against a far
better team - and yet Oklahoma's not getting any talk
of the title game. Nor is USC, the Pac 10 champ, who
won impressively today as well.
Yeah, LSU's two losses are in triple OT, but they
really haven't had an impressive win since week 2 and
have been living on the edge all year. It's bad enough
they get the title game at home, shouldn't they have
to EARN a spot in it?
Georgia, Kansas and VaTech gotta wonder why a close
21-14 win over Tennessee jumps LSU over them in a week
and Oklahoma and USC gotta wonder why if LSU can jump
that far, why they couldn't despite more impressive
wins in that last week.
We'll have to see what happens tomorrow (hopefully the
voters have more sense than to buy the company line
and ESPN's campaigning for LSU), but an LSU-OSU game
would really make the whole system look like a joke.
But I suppose if #2 can fall out of the title game
despite not even playing, then #7 can somehow leap
into the title game despite a sluggish win and three
teams ahead of them NOT LOSING!
Ugh - what a joke!
GO CATS!!!
