[NU Sports] Big mess for the B(C)S ...

What another wild day of college football!
At least the Big Least was finally exposed as Pitt - a
team that lost at MSU - went on the road to beat WVU.
I don't care that White was injured ... the
Mountaineers should have enough to roll over Pitt.
I thought Wanny would blow it by kicking the FG ... or
that the refs would blow it with those bogus holding
calls ... but the nightmare of a Big East team in the
title game was averted!:)
Good news for the Big Ten, as the Buckeyes will move
into the national title game and there will be a LOT
of pressure on the Rose Bowl committee to pick
Illinois to fill their spot.
Kind of fitting that after last year when the league
was hurt by being off so long, they were helped this
year by a team moving from #7 when it played its last
game into a spot in the title game. Wild year!
Now the B(C)S nightmare scenario is one quarter away
... OU leads Mizzou by two scores. A loss by #1 and
you have a huge debate about the title game. #4 and #5
in the BCS were teams that didn't even win their own
division, yet alone play in those title games (which
are looking less and less like a good idea each year).
Then #6 is a team that lost big to #7 at the start of
the year - even though both won today. And behind them
is USC, which is probably playing the best of any team
around right now. And #9? Oh yeah, the Gators. Think
Urban can't press conference whine his way into
another title game?:)
OSU-Mizzou would make an interesting title game and
would be fun to see. But if it's not that, then there
will be a lot of chaos.
One other interesting note - at least three of the BCS
games could be "home" games this year with USC, ASU
and LSU all playing a short bus trip from their home
fields. Oddly, the bowl that has probably been a
"home" game more than any -- the Orange Bowl for
Florida teams -- might be the one neutral site game.
What a wild college football season - if this doesn't
spur cries for a playoff, who knows what will. Dunno
if we'll be able to slip in a bowl or not, but two BCS
teams again would help the league.
GO CATS!!!
