[NU Sports] 2007 Predictions

I like the sound of 8-4, but I have absolutely no idea.

I agree with others that the D will be better because of the natural
tendencies of our head coach, but we are also losing the LB strength and
leadership that we had last year, so it's hard to predict how we are going to
do particularly against the run.  I can only hope that we get at least to
point where we are average.

On offense we're in the same boat.  We thought we were going to have a
dominant O line last year and it took them most of the season to figure out
how to play together.  We have to be able to reliably run the ball for three
or four yards on first down in order for our offense to work.  Until I see
that happening this year, I won't feel comfortable predicting any success
against BT teams.

Finally, I have no idea where we are going to be on special teams.  Our
return game was about the only part of special teams last year that showed
significant improvement.  The new rules should help that, but we also have to
be able to defend against the return, and our short kickoff strategy of last
year isn't going to work as well this year.

I really hope that those who have been paying more attention to the preseason
have a good handle on where this team is.  We only need six wins to go
bowling and they are certainly out there.  

As Roy says, at this point let's go win 'em all.
