[NU Sports] OT: Chicago bid

Exactly - I really don't see how NU is a "loser" in
any respect. We have a respectable recent history in
football - basketball may be another story (though UF
hardly stacks up to Indiana, UNC, Kentucky, etc.
there) ... and our other athletic programs more than
hold their own.

And then you get to the school itself, where an NU
degree is so far out of Florida's league that they'd
need a telescope in Gainesville to glimpse it.

I really don't think we need to compare ourselves to
mass jock factory schools like Florida, Ohio State,
Texas or USC. NU is in another category and to be
honest, that's fine by me. I sure as heck know where
I'd want my kid to go.

As for the Olympics, that's fine if we can't get in on
the games ... Evanston isn't exactly the most
accessible place for a big event ... it just might
have been cool and it's tough to see a more
picturesque venue for some events. Soccer prelims
would be fun -- weird that Minnesota would be a venue
other than a place in Wisconsin or Indiana (West
Lafayette is a grass field and closer).
