[NU Sports] OT: Chicago bid

The Olympic Committee does not, indeed should not, finance a new arena for a
private institution like NU. What I was suggesting is that hopefully some
creative financing and out-of-the-box thinking could help close whatever gap
NU would have in building a new arena--sale of seat "licenses" combined with
good tickets for certain Olympic Events; corporate naming opportunities tied in
with Olympic sponsorship; etc. I'm just a humble attorney, not very good
at this stuff, but I'm sure some of the big shots involved in the Olympic bid
and in NU's alumni and educational leadership could come up with something.
And what about the Marathon going right up Sheridan Road? Any ideas on that?
If the students were really creative, they could hang around in the Summer
and block it in protest of this Era's War (and this generation's Nixon) and
we could all relive Spring 1970 and Spring 1972. I can't wait to see the
outrage my last comment provokes among some of my fellow list members.:-)
