[NU Sports] One Shining Moment

One would think that a really good coach, given a top compensation package,
with Chicago as a media base, and the opportunity to "Take the Purple to the
Promised Land" (i.e., the NCAA Tournament) and to thus echo GB's
once-in-a-lifetime achievement, would go for it. It won't be an easy sell, and I hate to
see Carmody go in many ways, but I can't help thinking that we need someone
else with a broader vision who will recruit more athletic and creative
players. As far as I am concerned, Corey Brewer was absolutely magnificent
throughout the tournament. We have never had a player of that incandescence, on
offense, defense and on the boards. You cannot convince me that there are not
at least a couple like him (or Mike Conley, Jr.--another "winner" in every
sense) in this entire country with decent SAT's and a good academic record.
It's time for someone like that to come to Evanston and lead us to a place we
have never been.
