Reports from The Daily Herald say that Kim Thompson and Austin Mathews, two
vital cogs in our offense may be back against PSU. If so, this will give us a
big shot in the arm in light of Kafka's availability.
Our offense looked like a 1-A offense for the first time this season
against Nevada (hold on to the _#o@!c$_ (mailto:#o@!c$) ball!) , and the
infusion of these players will help. Penn St. can be had, but we'll need to play our
best game of the year.
As far as my optimism (or lack of..) , I saw improvement from the EMU
game except with all the turnovers. We may have looked better, but with 5
turnovers a game, we'll be 2-10 at season's end.
With that said, I'm much more upbeat about this weekend than I thought
I'd be, providing we actually do get Thompson and Mathews back, as well as
Kafka's situation. In 2003 we were 2-4 and got it together; 1-3 in 2004, so I'm
not ready to write the season off. As important as the Nevada game was in
the grand scheme of things, this week's game is more so. PSU has lost to Notre
Dame and Ohio St. so with their schedule they've played , they deserve some
slack. But if you listen to PSU fans, the wind went out of their collective
sails after their poor 2nd half at Ohio St. Morelli is having growing pains,
and from what I've seen, New Hampshire and Nevada had MUCH better QBing than
PSU.
Not calling for the upset yet, but let's see who plays and who sits on
saturday.

                Trust the Plan, Eric
