As one who watched Girardi with the Yankees for many years, he is probably the "hottest" young managerial candidate in Major League Baseball. The fact that he wouldn't put up with Lurie, the owner of the Marlins, yelling at the Umpire over balls & strikes calls doesn't in any way diminish the incredible job he did with that team this year. If the Cubbies don't grab him, he won't lack for work. And if Torre ever does retire, Joe G. would be a natural fit to succeed him. By the way, my friend, Lori Chase, the driving force behind the founding of Northwestern University Entertainment Alliance (NUEA) East, and the club's first President, introduced Mr. Girardi to Mrs. Girardi while at NU.

Don't bet on it, is right--how much can they pay a head baseball coach in
college vs MLB- ? It's not even close like football--sure Joe would enjoy it
and
not have the pressure of a big league job, but he is a proven leader in
MLB--always was either the captain, player rep, or spokeman for the players.
Did
a terrific job with the fish--has to be very marketable--I suppose Tony Gywnn
figured differently

I really hope Joe keeps doing well both for him and as good PR for NU--and
their production of top student-athletes--Joe is obviously one of our best
recent examples.
