Forgot to send my picks with the lineup - remember to
get yours in by kickoff.

* IOWA 42, Illinois 7
C: Only way this one stays close is if the Hawkeyes
start looking ahead to the OSU game next week.

* CONNECTICUT 27, Indiana 17
C: Too bad it's not a basketball game.

* MICHIGAN 26, Wisconsin 10
C: The Victors of last week's big game usually have a
devil of a time with the Cheeseheads, but they pull
away at home after halftime.

* MICHIGAN STATE 45, Notre Dame 42
C: I think the Irish have been looking forward to
their chance at revenge for awhile ... but I also
think Sparty's been saving a lot for this game and
their confidence has to be bolstered after last week's
debacle by the Irish. Another wild shootout and
another MSU win in this series.

* MINNESOTA 24, Purdue 19
C: The Boilers have been scraping by mediocre teams
while the Gophers are surprisingly tested on the road
after the Cal game. That's the difference in this
battle for the Insight Bowl.

* OHIO STATE 30, Penn State 6
C: The Bucks have had this game circled since last
year's ambush in Happy Valley - PSU's struggling with
a new QB, and the Horseshoe won't make things easier.

* ALABAMA 13, Arkansas 9
C: Love that SEC defense ... tough game, and I'm
tempted to go with the upset at home, but Bama squeaks
by here.

* CALIFORNIA 35, Arizona State 20
C: Now the tests begin for ASU, and they won't be
ready for a game at Cal yet.

* SOUTHERN CAL 27, Arizona 10
C: The Wildcats gear up for the prime time lights, but
can only keep it close until half

* NC STATE 27, Boston College 24
C: The Eagles' luck finally runs out out in a mild
upset on Tobacco Row as the Wolfpack still have some
fight.

* NORTHWESTERN 23, Nevada 21
C: The Cats are suffering big-time from having a new
QB and OC ... and being on the road against a pretty
talented team looking to prove something won't help,
but I think Fitz will have a few tricks up his sleeve
to try and turn things around as a tough 3-game road
trip begins.
