First of all, I hope Coach Hoeppner pulls through his surgery with flying
colors. It makes me think that RW's situation hastened a trip to the doctor. It
would be nice to think that RW's untimely passing contributed to benefiting
a friend's health...
OK Wildcat gang, I was the yahoo that forecasted a 56-10 Cat win. While
purple haze sunglasses are ALWAYS in place, I was disgusted by: Our defense
shredded in the first half, and our offense acting as "posers" in the second.
I've been a Cat fan since 1978, and the loss vs. Duke in ...98, 99 by , what
was it, 157-6 or something like that, is the worst I've felt until satuday.
But the sun will rise. In fact, we beat TCU the week after losing to
Duke, so while I am concerned, I'm still hopeful that this season will be a
success.
The question may be, what is a successful season? I would say 5-6 wins
would be a success, what with all the changes in coaching and personel.
I echo the sentiment of why Brewer has been relegated to the bench. I
figured hime to be a slotback/WR/QB ala Randle-El. Maybe I read too much into
the pre-season reports, but if he can help, by all means its time to take the
wraps off of him.
Sutton/Jordan: In the second half, we were so discombobulated, no one
knew who was doing what. The poster who commented on inexperience was right; it
was alearning experience for players and coaches alike.
Schedule/recruiting:Boston is still close enough to help with recruiting
in New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania. I can see why we schedule
a home and home vs. BC (remember GB's win vs. BC in the rain in '93?) , I
still can't understand a home and home vs. Nevada. Nonsense.
Time to Trust the Plan. There are 2 times to trust the plan. 1) when you
want to 2) when you don't.
GO CATS!!! Eric
