I'll agree with that. Watching games the first weekend
and seeing it in person on Saturday, it really seems
to ruin a lot of the excitement that is college
football and seems like an overreaction.

Were games too long? Yeah. But it seems like the TV
timeouts (especially NBC Dame games) had more to do
with that than the clock.

Maybe use the new rules for most of the game, but in
the final 2 minutes of the half, I'd like to see them
go back to the old rules. One of the late series in
the UNH game, they got the punt and the clock began
... then they had a false start, so it continued to
run. Had that been a close game and we had all 3 of
our timeouts left, they'd have run almost a minute off
the clock before 1st down was even played, meaning
we'd have to start using timeouts after the change of
posession and be out after 2nd down. BOOOOOO!!!

College football has thrived on these amazing finishes
the past years, especially in Evanston. These new
rules just seem to be overkill against that -- in week
1, the FSU-Miami and GaTech-ND endings were rather
blah when they could have been exciting under the old
rules.

GO CATS!!!
