Back from Annapolis where I OD'd on crabs and watched Navy-East Carolina on
Saturday. Brought up memories about our 49-40 win in 2002, which USNA (1-10,
2-9 in 2001) had just hired Johnson, and we were in the middle of our season
and a half swoon. Baz was a struggling Freshmen, and you just knew that both
teams would struggle mightily.
Anyway, a comment on Nevada: They fell behind by 2 scores as Fresno ran
roughshod over them. Then, as we've seen many times, Pat Hill (not a coaching
genius IMHO) decides to "get cute" and do end-arounds for  losses;
inexplicably throwing deep, etc. when the Bulldogs were tearing them up on the ground.
Nevada owned the 3rd quarter, but to Fresno's defense, stiffened and scored
a big TD 1/2 way through the 4th Q.
Nevada looks like a team that makes few errors; they were man handled in
the trenches. They're QB was also a first time starter; this has the looks
of a nail-biter.
Miami comment: As I was away for a 4 day weekend, my .02 on Miami: The
defensive nature took our list by surprise, both for and against our Cats.
Wooten gets a gold star; he really looks fast. Eaton, while not being on as
many tackles, hits the hardest. MU failed miserably on 1st and 10, both on the
ground and in the air.
I agree with Dennis on our rushing; it stunk in the 1st half. However,
it got better when Jordan and Sutton were in a 2 back set. I think we'll see
more of that this week. Also, I thought it was a good idea to run Kafka as a
way to get the jitters out. MU was keying on Sutton anyway.
1-AA alert: 1-AA scores two wins this weekend, and New Hampshire is the
best team in 1-AA's best conference; the A-10. Know this; in the past 6-7
years, the A-10 owns victories over Rutgers twice (Villanova and UNH last
season) , Maine beat Mississippi St. two years ago, Villanova over Temple in 2004,
and now Richmond beats Duke. The teams in the A-10 have impressive
facilities and get up for these games. UNH's QB reminds me of Penn St's Michael
Robinson (or Brett Basenez!), so we better come to play.

Glad football is back. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

   Trust the Plan, Eric
