After a sputtering first half, Cats picked it up and had a solid, satisfying
win, including a good performance by a rookie QB. The success is a special
tribute to the team and the coaches after the tragic, traumatic summer. At
the same time, let's be brutally honest: green and inexperienced, Miami is
nothing close to what the Cats will play in the Big Ten, so there's a lot of
improvement needed before they face Penn State in a month, which I'm sure Fitz
is the first one to admit. Nevada itself will be a much bigger challenge
than what we saw in Oxford.

Yes, the second half was great. The team gained confidence as the game
went on, and you have to like that aspect of it. Fitz looked great and
sounded even better on the postgame show. I only wish that we had
brought in some subs to mop up the last couple of times we had the
ball. You'd sure hate to see Kafka or Sutton, for example, get hurt in
garbage time. But, hey, 21-3 is way more than I could have hoped for.
