Well....
I think we saw a glimmer of the younger LBs activity in both a 3-4 and 4-3
lineup. More speed coming from the frosh, plus further development by John Gill
and Adam Hahn may cause a rethinking of the 3-4, or maybe the conversion of Hahn
to DE, but who knows...
I would really like our younger linebackers to continue to step up - Simpson [8
tackles] showed how important the Will LB is in our system, and that he is a
good bet to be a fixture there for a year or two. NU's 3-4 makes Smith into
another linebacker and he led the team in tackles. Gill and Wootton both had
TFL's, Corey also forced a fumble.
NU is coming back from a very deep hole defensively. Our overall talent gets
better every year and I can see improvements over last year as this season
progresses.
But those who were upset last week can now see the difference that Fast Eddie's
speed makes in the play of the Will LB.
