[NU Sports] Get over it!

I've been saying for months that this was going to be a difficult season for
us.

IMHO there was WAY more good news coming out of yesterday's game than bad.

We have a QB who can run the O and score some points. We may not win
another game this year, but we will score some points and prove that we are
dangerous. Without a QB, we are toast regardless of how well everyone else
plays. With a QB we can have a team next year that can be competitive.

Surprised and disappointed at the weak D and special teams? Where you been
the past seven years? Tell me what sort of magic was going to turn these
historic weaknesses to strengths particularly this year. The issues we have
been dealing with may have something to do with coaching, but as I've posted
before, play on the field is only part of their job.

Substantive change in the D is going to come from better recruiting as well
as better coaching. From what I've read, we ARE recruiting better. Who
gets the credit for that? Might be these same guys getting toasted for the
team's poor play.

IMHO what happened on Saturday was a young team (and a young coaching staff)
finding themselves way ahead in a game they weren't supposed to win. They
didn't know what to do and played the second half worried about losing
rather than playing to win. This was a BIG learning experience for
everyone, but particularly Fitz. I suspect no one is hurting more than he
is.

At the end of the day, the coaches lost this game because the kids weren't
prepared for playing with a big lead. But it is this sort of experience
that most BT coaches bring to the job with them. In our case, we've got a
great HC who is going to be gaining some of this experience on the job, but
I sense he is the sort of guy who will use this loss to win a lot more games
in the future.
