Tyrell was in on a couple returns.

I remember posts in previous weeks calling for special
teams to be taken more seriously and for starters to
be playing on special teams to show that they were
important.

Roach's injury was one of those freak things that
could have happened on a running plan on 2nd down or
on a kickoff return. Can't blame the fact that he's on
special teams, IMO.

As for the rest of the frustration - I feel it. This
one just plain old sucked. However, remember that
we've been on the other side of that scenario (maybe
not 35 points - but Iowa '05, Michigan '00, Wisconsin
'00, etc. were all pretty darn improbable) ... so we
were due for one of these. Doesn't excuse our
defensive play calling or make it better, just an
observation.

As for the punt/ref thing ... I dunno what the college
rule is, but I know that the NFL has been paying
particular attention recently to the "fair
substitution" and how if one team substitutes
no-huddle, the D gets a chance to counter sub without
a penalty. Maybe it's something with that???

As for CJ - yes, the real deal. We didn't really give
him a chance to continue that late - we called some
deep passes but none of those slants. But the run
focus was working with Sutton's burst. CJ was awesome
in the first quarter in opening up our O and keeping
the D honest, setting up Sutton's big day.

Oh well - sucky day, sucky flight back with a load of
crying kids on the flight and parents who haven't a
clue ... but that 38-3 score just keeps gnawing at me.
This one's gonna hurt for awhile and the next three
weeks are brutal and we had a lot of big injuries.
Dang - really could have used that nice homecoming win
to give us something to hold on to until the Illini.
38-3. UGH!

GO CATS!!!
