[NU Sports] Oh oh (fwd)

As I recall, Sutton was back on kickoffs that NU felt might be onsides  kicks 
several times in the second half.   Kind of strange since he was  back with 
one other return man while the other nine guys were up defending the  onside 
kick so whatever returns he might have had would involve no blockers and  a 
whole bunch of fellas in green and white heading his direction looking to  inflict 
pain.
 
I'm not clear on why we felt there would be onsides kicks since MSU clearly  
had momentum and plenty of time and we were doing nothing.  For some reason  
MSU initially continued to kick the ball into the end zone, but eventually  
John L. figured out that we had everyone up and they simply kicked the ball to  
the goal line over our onside kick defense, we returned the ball to the nine or 
 so, and had lousy field position resulting in good field position for MSU 
after  our three and out and another MSU score.
 
I do appreciate that our offense appeared to be much more imaginative and  
aggressive then they have been all season (at least for 2.5 quarters anyway),  
but I'm thinking that after MSU tied the game at 38, I would consider playing  
for overtime and take my chances instead of throwing that first down pass that 
 was picked.
 
I've been attending NU games regularly for about 35 years and I've never  
seen anything like this.  I realize we had some injuries, but fer cryin'  out 
loud, 35 points?
