I'm not so sure it was our good defense holding down State in the first half - many of their issues seemed to be dropped passes and John L's insistence on trying to establish the run.

On the blocked punt I have a question - why did the official stand over the ball as MSU ran-off their 4th down D and ran-on their punt-blocking unit ? Does the defense have a right to get their desired team out there ? If so, why do we play that silly game where we send out the 4th-down unit (to the hashmarks) while the punter stands in his place, then we quickly swap units ?

If the officials are always going to let the defense substitute like that, why bother trying to fool the D ?

Anyone seen anything about Roach's status?

He wasn't actually taken out on a stretcher; he was driven out on the cart, but he was sitting up.

Later, he was back out on the field sitting on a table on the sideline with his lower leg and foot heavily bandaged.

The defense may have collapsed in the second half, but you can't blame it all on them. The D did a great job to hold a good Spartan offense to 3 points in the first half. The D also had several takeaways that led to scores.

After Bacher threw that interception for a touchback in the third quarter we didn't have another first down on our final 5 drives. No first downs the entire 4th quarter, and a total of I believe 15 yards of offense. Throw in a couple of first downs, and MSU wouldn't have had the ball as much.

The blocked punt was a total mental breakdown. We let the clock run down too far before we snapped it, while the snapper appeared to be doing calisthenics in the middle of the field. Simply get that punt off and we probably would have won the game.
