I think a loss like the one we suffered on Saturday is already "built in" to our recruiting capabilities. In other words, although we've had a number of winning seasons recently, we haven't exactly been a national title contender and we've had some embarrassing losses and embarrassing statistics to our credit in all of those years.

Obviously, improving on these things would help our recruiting, but I don't think a few big losses to Big Ten teams will really worsen our ability to recruit.

It sounds like this one lost recruit to Wisconsin had a preference for Wisconsin, anyway, and just went with it when they offered him a scholarship.

If you're Fitzgerald, I think you have to point to some of our recent winning seasons and tell recruits that this year is a rebuilding season for numerous apparent reasons. Although Ohio State and Michigan may not have "rebuilding seasons," it's a pretty common phenomenon among most other schools.
