MY PICKS
========
* ILLINOIS 27, Indiana 17
C: Break up the Illini!!!

* IOWA 20, Purdue 17
C: The Hawkeyes fall behind early with a hangover from
the prime-time egg they laid against the Buckeyes, but
they wake up in time to salvage the win.

* MICHIGAN 45, Michigan State 14
C: Usually this is a good game, but the Spartans are
falling apart while the Wolverines are more focused
than they've been since 1997. That spells blowout.

* PENN STATE 26, Minnesota 21
C: Good game here as the Nits could be looking forward
to the Michigan payback game and Minny's ground game
is strong in the Dome. But I think PSU has enough to
win this road test with some deep passes.

* OHIO STATE 28, Bowling Green 6
C: The scariest thing is that this young defense will
only get better as the year goes on. Number one rolls.

* LSU 17, Florida 13
C: Game of the week, and I'm not sold on Florida as a
title threat yet. LSU has the D and hangs on to a lead
late in the Swamp.

* TENNESSEE 24, Georgia 20
C: The Bulldogs have escaped defeat the past two
weeks, but the third time isn't a charm as they are
exposed by the not-yet-quite-legit Vols in Athens.

* AUBURN 23, Arkansas 3
C: The Tigers rebound at home from the Gamecock scare
and win solidly for the voters watching on TV.

* OREGON 37, California 33
C: Good game in the Pac 10 with the winner a
respectable darkhorse that could shock USC even though
that game will be in the Coliseum. The Bears have
rebounded nicely from the early loss, but the Ducks
really have taken to the spread and win a shootout.

* OKLAHOMA 14, Texas 10
C: For once, both of these teams are coming in with
one loss and not a real risk for the title game with
mostly cupcake schedules after this ... but the game
still means something. Can Mack beat Stoops without
Vince? Texas probably has the better talent, but OU
has the better single player (Petersen) and coach and
I'll go with that in a small upset.

And off the board ...

* WISCONSIN 38, Northwestern 10
C: The Badgers are really starting to grow under their
new coach with the offense catching up to the defense,
while the Cats still have growing pains from the new
quarterback. They'll get in sync in time, but not in
Camp Randall's hostile environment.

Remember, picks in by Saturday kickoff!
GO CATS!!!
