As I recall, Barry Switzer was made a partner in a number of oil ventures
with OU alum, I think the tax problems those created helped lead to his
departure at OU, but as a very rich oil person, far more than what he got
from OU or the shoe contracts. (I think one of those partners was his
employer-to-be at Dallas, Jerry Jones. In fact, weren't they roommates
or frat brothers in college?)

Yeah, Barry's driven by that call.

He is also one of the funniest public speakers I've ever seen, he's WORTH
his fee! Here's a joke he told in Nebraska once, about a year before he
resigned at OU:

OU had an off week, and the team was kind of beat up, so I gave them a
weekend off. Two linemen decided to go hunting for bear, having been told
that bear hunting was one of the most exciting and challenging of sports.

So they flew up to Montana, bought some rifles, rented a car, and drove off
into the woods. They saw a sign that read "Bear Left". So they went home.
