FWIW - Barry Switzer didn't need to do anything, ever again after he left
Oklahoma, but the call of the NFL and the chance to win a Super Bowl was
just too strong.

That pretty much sums it up for me. These guys got to the top of the heap
in their profession because they had fire in the belly to be the best. When
you've got all of the money you need, and the trophy wife, and all of the
perks that come with high profile success, and you are still come back every
year for another run - its basic competitive spirit that is driving these
guys.

They are playing a nice bio of Jim Leyland during the off season here in
Michigan. For those of you who follow baseball, Jim walked away from one of
the richest manager contracts (at the time) in Colorado. He left an
estimated $3M on the table because he lost his interest in the game. He
stayed home and helped raise his young kids and slowly regained his need to
compete. The success of the Tigers this year is evidence of the value of
both experience and integrity in a manager.
