Jonathan,
Thanks for the information.
Now I don't feel so bad.
If you also happen to know what the BT revenue sharing formula is it would
be interesting to estimate what NU's share of this year's bowl revenues
might be, since according to Stephen, we've got seven team participating and
appear to have come close to maximizing our income potential without
actually participating.

Subject: Re: [NU Sports] SC Game
In terms of the money - the payout for a second team from any conference in
a BCS game is pre-defined to be about 1/3 of the usual $15M payout (about
$4.5M). Therefore, as long as two teams from a conference are in, it
doesn't really matter which game they go to. The national championship game
pays a little more, and the bowl games vary a little bit in their payouts,
but the difference are not all that great. And of course no conference is
allowed to have 3 representatives in BCS games (Wisconsin would make a great
case for that this year), although the Bowl formerly known as Citrus has a
nice sized payout (over $4M, one of the largest non-BCS payouts, I believe).

Having said all of that, I am still glad SC pounded on them by 20...if only
it could have been by 40. Thanks to the men of Troy.

I have no love for ND either, but SC just took a lot of money out of NU's
pocket.
For purely monetary reasons I was rooting for ND to win and Michigan to end
up in the title game. Perhaps those more familiar with the details can
provide us with what the dollar difference to NU is between Michigan in
national championship game and the Rose Bowl, but I suspect it is
significant. As it is, our last hope for that sort of financial windfall
is UCLA.
